Crippled

Alright, so if Kirsten can put pictures of her severed neck on her blog, I feel I can put pictures of my swollen ankle on mine.

On Wednesday I went to PT (Physical Training) for ROTC. We are training for summer leadership camp at Ft. Lewis, Washington. Part of our training is to lead the PT session in stretches and drill movements. (The Army complicates everything) Anyway, the guy that was supposed to do it didn't show up, so I volunteered to do it.

Anyway, a the beginning I was having the soldiers jog in place, which we do before stretching. While I was jogging in place, I stepped half way on the pavement and half way on the grass, and rolled my ankle. I of course finished the PT session. It's a lot like taking a puck off the ankle, which I have done, the minute you take your skate off, it's not going back on.

I've now been hobbling around for the last few days, just hoping that the swelling goes down.
We're supposed to be taking a PT test next week, which involves push-ups, sit-ups, and a 2-mile run. I hate running, and this gives me an excuse not to. I don't need excuses not to run, I need excuses to run.

Oh, and Michael wanted a picture of his foot taken too, so here it is.

Sorry about your ankle..I can only imagine. Funny about the excuse to or to not run thing. Reminds me of our ISP academy. In the regular police academy, you worked up to running 5 miles at the end..big deal. Then you start the ISP academy, and the minimum run is 5 miles the first day, working up to 12 mile jaunts. I wasn't a big fan of running, but I got to like it. Your post reminded me of a guy in our class that every morning, he would literally look for a rock or pebble in the roadway to pretend to hit it, fall down, and hurt his ankle. It was hilarious, becuase you took way more of a beating from the tac officers then just completing your run. He never did get a swollen ankle like yours...he was a big faker. haha. Hope it gets feeling better soon.

...Oh yeah, and what a great pic of your family at the top of your page. Really great looking family. I'm glad you guys will be adding another, that way you can catch up...hehe.

I knew a lot of guys like that in Basic Training as well. I never thought ts was worth it when the Drill Sergeants got their hands on these guys.
We are catching up to you, but it's taken five pregnancies as opposed to your three. I'm not calling our experience unfair by any means. Life must be crazy with two sets of twins. We want one more (just to get ahead of you, JK) and we're praying that it's a single pregnancy. We'll have to buy a new van otherwise.

Once again, when I looked at your family photo, I first thought DJ was Jonathan. Although he didn't look quite right, so I looked again. I think it must be his round face because his eyes definitely don't look like Jon. Anyway, I can't believe how big DJ looks. That's crazy. All of your kids are looking so big to me. I wish we could get together more often, then it wouldn't be so confusing to see the pictures. I might actually know who's who.

I also think it's hilarious that Michael had to have a picture of his foot. Is he complaining of an ankle injury now? JK

Looks miserable Derek. Jenn, we are home usually anytime after 3:00 when Jonathon gets home. So the best time to call would probably be in the evening. Briaunna would love it.

Derek, Brent says you are exactly right about the puck on the ankle thing. Methinks you guys have played a game or two of hockey in your past... ;) I hope that heals though. Man alive it looks awful. The swollen part looks bigger than your foot altogether! And that bruise. Ouch.
Moving on, I too am jumping on the bandwagon by saying I love your family picture! I'm so glad you put one on here so I can see you all together. Come visit us soon! There are still a few hockey games left in the season you could go to!
