Well, we had an ultrasound today. We took Nina with us, but left the two little boys with a friend and Jon was in school. We thought she might enjoy it, but I'm afraid I didn't prepare her too well. Without thinking about what her conceptualizations would be, I told her we would see "pictures" of the baby. I don't think she was too impressed with the quality, though she did tell Michael and Grandma that they were "cute." But when Lil asked her what the baby looked like she got silent and handed me the phone.
Now, I'm sure you are all wondering what we found out. As I previously told you, my kids are dead set on having a girl. That's part of why we took Nina with us -- we thought it might ease the pain of having another brother. But, oh, joy! It looks like a girl! We have one very happy child in our house now. The boys have accepted her assertions that it would be a girl all along, so they weren't at all surprised. Now, Derek and I are just praying that the technician was correct. How would we ever explain the appearance of a brother now?
I must say, that I am also feeling tentatively elated. I really do want another girl, too. Nina and I are a bit outnumbered at our house. Besides little girl clothes are just so cute!
Oh, some of you are probably wondering when we're due -- My due date is June 27th, but I've been guaranteed that I will be induced a week early, if I haven't already had the baby by then. (That's the benefit of having a child in the car -- doctors never want to wait for the baby to arrive on its own...) I can't wait until we've made it to that point! As Meg and I were discussing today, the only good thing about pregnancy is that (ideally) you get a (and I, personally, am very glad to emphasize the singular nature of 'a') baby out of it.

Now Jenn, twins, (or close to twins) are so much fun!! Anyway, I am excited for you.
You enjoy your close to twins. I think I've come close enough with four in less than four years to make me happy (and to make me really tired), so I don't need twins. Besides, I get to enjoy them second-hand through Meg. And I tell you -- it's great!
Well, Matt seems to enjoy two sets of those twins, so what's wrong with you adding two more to your houseful? I'm totally kidding. Brent and I always said we wanted 5 kids. Now we're just trying to survive with two. We'll see how many more we can get before we're both bald. So my hat's off to you. And congratulations. I definitely understand how it feels to be outnumbered.
Ray keeps saying "Maybe we'll be lucky enough to get another set of twins -- boys this time." Somehow, I don't see it as "lucky." I'd kind-of like to know what it's like to have one baby, maybe then I could get something done. (Then again, maybe not, I'll never know.)
Congrats Jenn! I'm so out of the loop! I've been MIA from the computer! I hope it is a girl, but I know, that as long as it's healthy, you're happy! Take care!
Congratulations on getting a girl. I'll pray the gender doesn't change (he, he) into a boy :) I love girls, but I love boys too and that is what we will be welcoming come May.
Don't listen to all this bull about the joys of twins...we, like Meg, would like to know what it is like to have just one kid, but we will never know! Two, one, then two for us. This year we will have had two or more children in diapers for 8 years straight...haha. And I'm totally kidding about the bull about twins stuff, we love it! And we will be bald before Kirsten, but not before Brent, he's already 1/2 way there! Good luck and congratulations, I'm excited for you.
Let's see if Brent takes those kinds of comments sitting down(at his computer).
