Since Derek bought his BB gun, we have seen no sign of that evil cat (or any other cat, for that matter), in our yard. I guess the word must have gotten out somehow. Derek feels somewhat deprived, but perhaps he'll get his chance to shoot some innocent (or not so innocent) animal yet.
Derek's ankle seems to be completely healed. He's spent the last two weeks on a no-running (or anything like unto it) order from his doctor. Now he gets to spend Spring break (next week!!) trying to get back into running shape. Lucky for him, the weather forecasts look good. Of course, one can hardly depend on the weather forecasts in Oklahoma...
I hate time changes! This is actually the first time since 2001 that we have had to endure the Spring change. Derek has begrudgingly admitted that Arizona's lack of time changes is one of two good things about the state. (The other: most Arizona drivers stay in the right lane, except to pass.) My already distressing sleep habits are only exacerbated by this lousy turn of events (or clocks, in this case).
I despise my OB. You may all be wondering why I continue seeing a doctor that I hate. Let me explain. There are lots of OB/GYNs in Norman, however, only a very small percentage take our insurance. Unfortunately for me, not one of those comes recommended by anyone I've talked to. So I am stuck with a lousy set of choices: stay with a doctor I know I hate, but who at least has been seeing me since I was 8 weeks pregnant, or go with a relative unknown, who may (by all reports) be just as bad, or, if it's possible, even worse. I am not loving my choices, but the fact that I've left half of my appointments in tears is just not a good sign that I should stay. (Just a note -- I may be pregnant, but I am still not that prone to public emotional outbursts.)
On a more positive note, last Friday was Dress for Success day at our elementary. Jon and Nina were both incredibly excited. I have pictures (yeah for me -- I finally remembered to take my camera somewhere!!):

I also thought I'd post a great picture of our up and coming hockey star! He outfitted himself for the occasion. We actually took some video of it, but I haven't braved trying to add that yet. Maybe someday...
And a couple of kid funnies:
The other day Jon asked me when we are moving to a new house -- not if, but when. I told him not for a whole year plus some. He seemed a bit disappointed.
One of DJ's favorite pastimes (besides skating) is calling Uncle Roy. The last couple of times that I've either told him Uncle Roy was unavailable or we weren't calling him again today, DJ has asked to call "Uncle Lil."
Our pediatrician is named Michael. When I told Michael that the doctor used to be a little boy named Michael, just like him, he seemed rather intrigued. I then asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up, thinking he might just say "doctor." I should know better with that child. He looked at me and said, "A cowboy." I think he was rather put out that I even had to ask.

I love DJ's hockey gear. Which team wears pink?
I have to agree with you on the time changes. I think it's ridiculous. I really don't care which time schedule I'm on, I just wish the lawmakers would pick one and stick with it, year round. Ray always argues that daylight saving is so nice, extra time in the evening, etc. My argument is: it's just a mind trick to make everyone get up an hour earlier. If you want more time in the evening, go to work earlier. That's all you're doing anyway when you change the time. Only it's forced on everyone instead of just those who want it.
So well said, Meg! I hate watching my poor kids trying to adjust -- they aren't ready to go to bed when it's now bedtime and they really aren't ready to get up when it's school time.
Jenn, can I ask what that horrible doctor has done to you to put you in tears? I've been lucky: my original OB (sidenote: his name was Bruce Lee and he even looked like the Bruce Lee) I loved, but had to stop seeing 'cause he was stopping being an OB (I was about 4 months pregnant with Mitch at the time). I hated changing, but I love my new doctor, Dr. Walker. However, the same canNOT be said about my endocrinologists. I HATED my first one, what a total jerkface, LOVED my second one, but then he left the practice (same clinic as Dr. Jerkface), so I got put with Dr. Ahmad who's ok but not nearly like wonderful Dr. Garcia. Thankfully though, he's not a jerkface like Dr. King. Anyway. I'm very sorry for your OB troubles and I hope it gets sorted out somehow. Do you want me to call him and tell him to stop being a jerkface??
And Meg hit it right on the head. I DESPITE DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME. I haven't been able to sleep since. CURSES!
Kirsten,
I hope to never cross you. I might be called "my cousins jerkfaced husband", and that wouldn't be a comfortable position to be in.
Oh, and Jenn has a wisdom tooth growing in and asked the doc if she coud take anyghing stronger than acitometophine (spelling?) and the doctor said no. She tried to explain what she had been doing to stop the headaces associated with the tooth pain, and he said "It dosn't matter what you tell me, the answer is the same."
All Jenn wants sometimes is for him to listen to her, and mabey a little empathy, but no. I digress.
What cute pics. You guys have sweet kids. Beck and I have had some bad experiences with OBs and "evil" cats! We almost lost Alec due (at least alleged by nurses present at the time) to our first "cocky" OB. As for evil cats...well, I shared my story about the yappy weiner dogs, I don't want to incriminate myself further by going in to my "evil" cat stories..
I have Jenn here to tell me all the stories of "the cousins" growing up in Duchesne before you moved, Matt. I might advise you not to share them on the internet, but it would be hard to shock me.
She tells great stories by the way.
Yes, I too would like to know what it is about your OB. With Forrest I had an okay one most of the time, but I had to switch three weeks before I was due because we had moved. I DID NOT LIKE my new OB and thank goodness I proved him wrong a few times. Since then I've only done female midwives and I've had GREAT experiences. Good luck with yours.
