We left Grandma and Grandpa's house (in CA) on Friday the 15th and headed off to Phoenix to see Gavin (Derek's big bro) and Ashley (and their six kids).
Here are Ethan and Naomi. I actually caught Naomi with a smile! I'm not sure if Ethan's smiling or not, but he sure is cute. I admit, I covet his hair (for my baby). Isn't it cute? And I loved this picture of Drew and Naomi swinging beside each other.
The kids had a great time playing with their cousins. Zoe and Nina were very excited when we found them matching dresses. In the pics you can see them playing babies (those are dolls -- we didn't just let them haul around their little siblings -- except Drew). And that's Nina and Zoe shopping in the pantry. They were very serious about it and moved a lot of food to Zoe's room, but they were also responsible and put it all back.
We went to Chucky Cheese's. The kids had a fabulous time, of course, after all, that's where a kid can be a kid...
Here are the pictures of our time in New Mexico. I actually thought it was a rather beautiful state, though my time their is not full of fond memories.
We drove, stopped at McDonalds, drove, stopped to clean up DJ's vomit (I included a picture of the gas station where we did the cleaning up. His pic was taken just before he threw up -- I spared you pictures of the vomit), then drove some more and sometime in there arrived in Texas.
Texas was (from my point of view) dark. The only memorable moment was stopping for gas and restrooms in Amarillo in a huge downpour (and of course, the restrooms were outside, in a separate building, so we had to get wet...). Finally (at 5:00 am Central Daylight Time, Monday Aug 18th -- my b-day -- what a way to begin it...) we arrived in Norman, Oklahoma. My, how beautiful home looks after 18 hours on the road!
Wednesday (the 20th) our kids started school. Michael is in Pre-K and has the same teacher Nina had last year. He goes to school from 7:55 to 10:25. Nina is in Kindergarten and has the same teacher Jon had. And Jonathan is in 1st grade. I can't believe it... DJ believes he goes to school since we've spent time there every day. He even has a Kennedy shirt. Naomi probably just believes that life consists of being in a new place every few days. She's been an awfully good sport about it, thankfully.
And, for a current note: Naomi is laying in our bed right now making all kinds of cute noises. I think she even tried to laugh.

wow your journey has ended... what a long drive!! Glad you made it safe and sound. My kids started school today the 25th... I just got home from taking them to school. Happy belated birthday also!
Wow, Naomi had only spent what, less than a week at home before you headed to Utah, huh? So now she can get to know home! That's nice she's been so good for all the travelling. I'm glad you got home safe, too. Were your kids excited to start school? Mine just started today. It's nice to have the first day behind us. My kids did just fine, but I sure struggled . . .
Sounds like you guys had a busy and fun-filled trip. Your kids are adorable and Naomi is getting so big! Congrats on your road trip, I don't know if I could do it. I'll bet it's good to be home though.
